この度、長年合気道の修行をされ、日本語を研究されたMichael Hacker 氏が、合気道修業者を対象に 『The Language of Aikido 』を出版されました、この書籍が、合気道をはじめ、多くの日本武道を修業される方々の為に、武道一般必要用語理解への｀道しるべ｀として活用して頂ける事を願っております、

With the spread of Japanese martial arts all over the world, I have come to encounter many people who practice various arts such as Karate, Jūdō, Kendō, and Aikidō. In the process of learning these arts, in addition to learning technical movement, understanding the Japanese language is important—starting with necessary words for use in the dojo including the names of techniques, etiquette-related phrases, practice terminology, and general martial arts vocabulary.
Michael Hacker, who has studied both the Japanese language and Aikidō for many years, has published “The Language of Aikidō” for students of the art. It is my hope that students of Aikidō and other Japanese martial arts will find this book useful as a guide for better understanding the language used in Japanese Budō.
